bringing baby home workshop

Parenting is a journey not a destination, enjoy the ride

A workshop for expecting parents

Bringing Baby Home is a workshop for new or expecting parents to prepare for the changes and challenges that come when a family transitions from two adults in the home to now a family of three with an infant.
When a couple decides to expand their family it is commonly a joyous and exciting life decision that is filled with anticipation, hope, love, and a fantasy of what this new joy will bring. And with that joy, couples soon learn that the challenges and changes that come with a baby is a life transition that no one is fully prepared for (although we “think” we are). Family dynamics shift and the relationship between the two of you is no longer just that but you now have a baby who needs constant attention and love.

So the question is…how to keep the we in three??

About The Workshop

The Bringing Baby Home (BBH) workshop is a research-based and research-tested psycho-educational workshop that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for babies and children by strengthening their families. This workshop is based on renowned researchers and therapists, Drs. John and Julie Gottman who have worked with, and studied couples for over 40 years.

Research has proven that 67% of parents experience a significant drop in relationship satisfaction in the first year after the birth of a child. Research has also proven that 85% of parents who take this workshop have reported an increase in friendship, communication, less overall turmoil, and greater intimacy.

The Benefits

In this workshop, couples will learn not only how to survive the transition to parenthood but how to thrive. You will leave the two days with confidence, skills and tools to get over the bumps, but most of all, you will remember who the two of you are and what you have, remembering how to keep the romance and love alive.

After the workshop you will know how to do the following

  • Keep your relationship strong
  • Increase intimacy and affection
  • Work through conflict with greater ease
  • Reduce hostility
  • Create positive baby-child interactions
  • Reduce the incidence or severity of postpartum
  • Create co-parenting strategies

How This Helps Baby

Although this workshop is primarily to strengthen and grow a couples connection once a baby is born, the icing on the cake is that the children of the parents benefit too!

They are more like to:

  • Develop the ability to self soothe with more ease
  • Sleep longer
  • Learn complex language earlier
  • Cry less
  • Have better emotionally, socially, and cognitive development including less language delays
  • Express more smiling and laughter during family play

Communication is not about being perfect, it is about being “better” and there is incredible healing power in friendship, intimacy, and how to repair when things erupt.
