When “me time” is a distant memory

Mindful Mama’s Support Group

Group for new mamas – when “me time” is a distant memory

This group is open to anyone who has a new baby 0-12 months

The transition to motherhood can elicit a slew of feelings. You may feel happy in one moment and sad in the next. It is not uncommon to experience feelings of doubt, guilt, anxiety, or feeling isolated and alone. After all, your world has just radically changed and adjusting to the new normal can be difficult. New mom brains are filled with questions – how to breastfeed? What does sleep training look like? Can I drink coffee? And on and on… the questions are endless and google only leads to more confusion.

Feeling weepy, sad, or anxious is normal. Going through bouts of shame or, periodically fantasizing about your pre-child life is normal. We live in a world where women are “supposed to” love everything about becoming a mama. After all, shouldn’t you just be filled with love and gratitude? And yet, the reality is more complicated than that.

Who is this group for?

  • Any new mama who wants to feel supported and less alone
  • Any new mama who is looking to be surrounded with other new mamas – A “support group” may provide the community you have been looking for
  • Any new mama who wants to share their experiences and ask others for advice or ideas.

Many new mamas find that while transitioning to becoming a parent, they fear losing who they used to be. Their identity has now changed and it is hard to find their footing. If you are riding the emotional waves of motherhood or, just want to sit in a room and connect with other new mamas who really understand what you are going through, this group may be right for you.

What will we talk about in group?

  • Anything and everything that comes with becoming a mother
  • Do you have moments or days where you just feel down or sad?
  • Do you have moments of feeling inadequate as a mother?
  • Do you ever feel anxious about breastfeeding?
  • Are you grappling with your new identity?
  • Do you have friends without kids who you are having a hard time connecting with?
  • Do you want to hear how other mothers are coping?
  • Do you want advice from people in similar shoes and who are asking themselves similar questions as you are?

From emotional support to navigating logistics, this group invites all topics in. What we talk about on any given day will depend on you. We will decide together where the conversation goes.
