Support for individual mamas and couples

You don’t have to lose who you were, while embracing who you are now

Having a child is one of the most significant and life-changing events an individual or couple can experience. It can be exciting, bring joy and happiness, and, along with that excitement, feelings of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty may arise. New mamas often want to remember who they were pre-baby as their identity has changed and shifted. And couples want to hold on to the romance, spontaneity, connection, and freedom that life offered before “we became three”.

I offer support to both individuals and couples to help navigate this life change. My desire and interest in supporting new families lead me to pursue training as both a birth and postpartum Doula, run groups for new and expecting mamas and offer workshops for couples to ensure that the relationship between the two parents only grows stronger and more connected once the baby arrives.

Individual Therapy for expecting and new mamas

Becoming a new mama can be a lonely experience. And, even when surrounded by a network of people, the transition to motherhood can elicit that sense of aloneness, bring up fears and anxiety, and the need for self-care may become more and more apparent.

Together we can explore:

  • Fears around being a “good enough” parent
  • Loss of identity and the desire to access the “old” you
  • The fears, anxiety, and doubts that come with becoming a parent
  • How to access self-regulation and implement self-care
  • Practice self-compassion – you ARE doing the best you can do

Couples therapy for expecting or new parents

The stress, exhaustion, anxiety, and fears that often come with bringing a baby home can sometimes lead couples feeling disconnected. And it is not uncommon for the romantic relationship to take the back seat.

I can support couples in:

  • Reconnecting after the baby is born
  • Talking with each other about the fears and anxieties that arise when becoming a parent
  • Reconnect sexually and grow intimacy
  • Explore differences in parenting
  • Ensure long term goals are the same
  • New parents often choose couples therapy and/ or are interested in attending the Bringing Baby Home workshop.
